Resort Description

Claviere is a small resort right on the border with France. The fantastic 400km of ski runs in the Milky Way area connect Claviere and neighbouring Montgenèvre in France, as well as Sauze, Sestriere, Sansicario and Cesana in Italy. The characteristic mountain village architecture of Claviere is a charming blend of old and new, set amidst breathtaking scenery, the locals claim it has the best snow conditions in the Milky Way.

Ski/Snowboard Information

Beginners...

The nursery slopes are located near the centre of the resort and beginners soon move up with the 4-seater La Coche chairlift where a broad blue run will take you back down into Claviere.

Intermediates...

The Milky Way offers some great skiing for intermediates. From the top of Claviere intermediates have the option to ski back down to Claviere or take the link over to Sansicario opening up the rest of the glorious Italian Milky Way ski area.

Advanced...

Some great skiing for better skiers can be found by taking the 4-seater Col Boeuf chairlift from the bottom of Claviere. This gives a couple of good options from getting some speed up and racing back down the black 99 into Claviere to cutting across the red 99 which is the run used to link Claviere with Montgènevre in France.

Apres Ski

Nightlife...

As a small and traditional family-friendly resort, nightlife is rather quiet in Claviere as evenings are centred around your hotel or in-resort après and activity programme. Gallo Cedrone is the main bar in town and has a good atmosphere when busy, usually at weekends when locals are visiting. For lively nightlife, it's best to head to Montgenèvre, just half an hour walk away (2kms) or a taxi can be arranged.

Take the public bus (local charge) to the old walled town Briancon in France where there is a swimming pool and shops

There are good restaurants in Claviere serving local and international meals with a 3 course meals from €27 and pizzas and pasta from €8.
