"When it said on News at Ten before departure that there were severe problems in Greece with the heat I didn't realise it was so bad until on arrival at the splendid Athos Palace hotel when I saw guests carried up to there rooms on strethers because of Sunstroke. This resulted in spending the week in the outdoor pool which fortunately had a bar in the middle of it .The hotel itself was in my opinion five star with excellent facilities and surrounding grounds. The nearby town centre had little night life but good restraunts and a few shops. However as it got dark shortly before 9.00pm it was not a walking holiday once the heat died down.A resort for those who are happy reading a book in the shade and relaxing so it looks like the wife will be going back by herself next year.See you in Benidorm"

"a lovely little resort which centres around a main square with restaurants and bars scattered around the streets leading from it. The square comes to life on an evening where stalls and painters come out by the dozen and the restaurants lighten up the night with their different signs and traditonal music. A nightclub called No-Nos can be found in the next resort of Polichrono costing around 3 Euro in a taxi each way, very popular with the locals. Daytime activites tend to centre around the long sandy beach where watersports can be found. The Excursion to the far Peninsula of Mount Athos is highly recommended as the stop at the fishing village of Ouranopolis on the way is a must!"
